Pierogi- In this class we will be preparing traditional pierogies. Each attendee will be learning how to make their own dough, rollout, and fill their own pierogies and then how to cook them. We will be preparing them with a variety of traditional fillings. Pierogies are very near and dear to my heart. My grandfather used to tell stories to me of his mother making them when he was a child.This class is very near and dear to my heart so it’s going to be exciting.
In this class we'll be discussing the elements of sourdough as well as making your own loaf of bread. Then we'll be creating your own sourdough starter from scratch from a choice of a variety of ingredients. And of course we'll be tasting some various styles of bread and discussing recipes. Kitchen Technique is an educational forum where we're focusing on the preparations, culinary technique, origin/history, and most importantly acquainting each other with the theme of this class. And having fun too!
Potstickers and dumplings are one of my favorite things to eat as a snack and or a meal. Each culture has their own interpretation of a dumpling. Eastern european cultures version of a dumpling can be classified as a pierogi, Spanish version of dumpling is an empanada, and then there are a ton of varieties in the Asain countries, as well as India. In India they have a version of what I would call a dumpling/potsticker hybrid; Samosa. The dumpling/potsticker can be argued to have started in China just like most food traditions
